In February, we plan to look at something very simple but important: Every Member a Minister. When we talk about personal ministry, many instinctively brace themselves. Verses like Hebrews 6:10 are so important because it tells us that God sees what faithfulness looks like. Most of what God uses most powerfully never draws attention. Faithfulness matters … and God never overlooks it.
Day-to-Day Faithfulness
Don’t assume that: if my service isn’t visible, impressive, or widely noticed, it must not matter very much. There is a passage in Romans that pushes back against this idea:
Romans 12:6: According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts…
The “grace” here is not referring to saving grace. This grace sends us out in service. It is the way God fits each person for their role in His work.
Notice how there is no ranking of gifts.
This means: if God gave it, it matters.
Your service is not measured by platform or recognition - but by faithfulness.
Luke 16:10: Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, …
Therefore…
Galatians 6:9: Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.
God Sees and Uses Faithful Service
Hebrews 6:10: For God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you demonstrated for his name by serving the saints—and by continuing to serve them.
God uses the things we often undervalue:
Colossians 3:23-24: Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.
Your personal ministry is for Christ.
God uses faithfulness that we never get to see come to fruition.
Much of what we do is seed planting, not harvest gathering.
God is at work beyond what we can measure.
Ephesians 3:20: Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—
1 Corinthians 3:6-7: I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
As We Close…
1 Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Over time, we can begin to measure everything. Little results or progress? Is it worth it?
Ephesians 3:20: God is always doing more than we can see.
The same God who saved you by grace is using your faithfulness by grace. So take courage. Be assured. You are part of something far greater than you can ever measure.
