New Booklet Going to Print
Perfect for those who would like to know more about the churches of Christ
For years, I’ve had people ask for a short, approachable resource to help explain who the churches of Christ are. Something more than a tract,1 but not as long as a full 13-week workbook.2 After months of planning and writing, that resource is finally complete. The cover is completed. Becky is currently finishing the editing, and our typesetter will have it ready to print by early next week.
I’m excited to share this with you.
This new booklet provides a simple and straightforward introduction to the churches of Christ. It’s written for people who are seeking truth, visiting your congregation, or just trying to understand what sets the church apart. It’s short enough to read in one sitting but designed to be read slowly, one chapter at a time, with an open Bible.
I think it will be a great addition to your congregation’s guest welcome area, a tool for one-on-one studies, or even a short class series.
Here’s a short excerpt from the preface:
“You may be asking, What is true? What does God actually want from me? How can I know I’m on the right path? This booklet was written to help answer those questions by going back to the source: the Bible.
We want to be the church you read about in the New Testament—nothing more, nothing less.
We don’t follow man-made creeds or religious trends. We follow Jesus Christ, and we believe His word is sufficient.”
Each of the ten chapters explores a key topic—from the organization of the church to the meaning of baptism to the nature of worship. Each one is built around Scripture and includes reflection questions and a challenge to follow Christ, not tradition.
Here’s a quick look at what’s inside:
Chapter Overview
A People of the Book – We follow the Bible alone and aim to restore New Testament Christianity.
Who Is the Church? – The church is the body of Christ, made up of the saved.
The Name We Wear – Christians wear the name of Christ, not man-made labels.
The Gospel That Saves – The gospel must be believed and obeyed to receive salvation.
God’s Plan of Salvation – Salvation comes by grace through obedient faith.
What Happens at Baptism? – Baptism unites us with Christ and washes away sins.
Worship That Pleases God – Worship follows the New Testament pattern.
How the Church Is Organized – Local churches are led by elders and served by members.
Living as the People of God – Christians live daily in holiness and service.
Unity in Truth – True unity is built on God’s truth, not compromise.
