Thankful for Spiritual Blessings
In Christ, God has already given us more than we could ever earn or deserve.
Some blessings sit so deep in our lives that we forget they’re there. We see our problems. We notice what we lack. We feel the weight of the week. But in Christ, God has already given us more than we could ever earn or deserve.
Paul said: “Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Every spiritual blessing. Not a few. Not most. Every one.
Think about what that means.
We’re forgiven. “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7). Your past doesn’t define you. Your sins aren’t held over your head. God has wiped them clean.
We’re adopted. God didn’t save us and keep us at a distance. He brought us into His family. “You received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’” (Romans 8:15). You belong to Him now.
We have hope. Not a shallow optimism. A real hope anchored in the promises of God. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19). The storms don’t get the last word.
We have peace. A peace that guards our hearts when life shakes. “And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). Nothing in this world can offer that.
We have the Spirit. God isn’t watching from far away. He helps us, strengthens us, intercedes for us, and shapes our character.
These blessings don’t expire. They don’t depend on the economy, or your health, or the mood of the day. They are rooted in Christ. They remain steady when everything else feels uncertain.
Thankfulness grows when we slow down and notice what God has already placed in our hands. Spiritual blessings are the bedrock of our faith. They tell us who we are. They remind us what God has done. They show us why we can stand firm even when life feels heavy.
So today, pause and remember the blessings that can’t be taken away. Forgiveness. Adoption. Hope. Peace. The Spirit. A future with God. These are not small things. They are the treasures of the kingdom.
Give thanks for what is yours in Christ: fully, freely, and forever.
