What Did God Do For You?

One of the most important questions you could ever ask...

Titus 3 gives us the answer. When we were lost, broken, and undeserving, God didn’t leave us in our sin. He came to rescue us.

“But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us…” (Titus 3:4-5, CSB)

He saved us because He is merciful. And that mercy was not abstract. It was real. It took on flesh. Jesus came not to hand us a new set of rules, but to give us new life.

How did He do it?

“…through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (v. 5)

At baptism, God did something powerful. By His Spirit, He washes us. He regenerates us. He renews us. We are brought from death to life. This is your spiritual restart—the moment the old dies and the new begins.

God Doesn’t Stop Once Our Baptism is Completed

“He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior…” (v. 6)

Look closely at Paul’s wording here regarding God’s gift of the Spirit. He has been given to us:

  • Abundantly.

  • Fully.

  • Lavishly.

God gives us more than forgiveness—He gives us Himself. The Holy Spirit is not just power—He’s the presence of God in us, the seal of our adoption, the assurance of our place in the family.

The result?

“So that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.” (v. 7)

You are justified, declared righteous in God’s eyes. This is your status in the kingdom. He has declared you not guilty, fully accepted, and clothed in Christ. God doesn’t just forgive your past; He gives you standing in His presence. This standing is not tenuous. It is secure and stable.

You are an heir, adopted into the royal family. What belongs to the king is now yours in Christ.
You have hope, a confident expectation of eternal life. Not just unending existence, but joy, communion, and glory with God.

This is Kingdom language. You don’t barely sneak into the Kingdom of God. You are welcomed in as an heir, a child, and a citizen. You don’t live your life trying to get in. You live your life because you belong.

So again, what did God do for you?

  • He rescued you in mercy.

  • He washed you clean.

  • He filled you with His Spirit.

  • He declared you righteous.

  • He called you family.

  • He gave you hope.

That’s the gospel. That’s the Kingdom. And that’s why we live, worship, and invite others into this mercy.
