Thank you., This is a powerful and difficult truth to fully embrace. One can read it, hear it, believe it, give it to God In Prayer, but as you said nothing changes. One of the problems is that surrendering To God In Prayer is the first step, the next step is finding what help or support there is that will guide you and sustain you as you go through the process of surrender. Perhaps you need counseling, perhaps you need an accountability partner, perhaps you need a group,. But we can have faith that what we've surrendered to God is going to go away on its own without us doing anything. Is that a possibility? Could be. But more likely faith requires work as well. Timothy said it best faith without works is dead. Many of us Walk This Road of hidden faults, or thoughts, or some other thing that is detrimental to our growth. And as you said we rename it we justify it. We take it to the altar Time and Time and Time and Time Again, without any change. Self-deception is stronghold. We need help not only of the Holy Spirit, but also of others. In the surrendering we ask for guidance and direction to the right people, places, and resources to help us walk out the surrender and actually Let It Go. Thank you again for a great word for all who will read it and my prayer is embrace it.

Phyllis,...

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I think you're exactly right. One thing we often miss is that surrender isn't usually a one-time event. We bring something to God, we pray about it, we lay it at the altar, but then comes the hard part... actually walking it out. I really appreciated your point about needing help from others. God certainly works through His Spirit, but He also works through people. Sometimes that's a counselor, a trusted friend, an accountability partner, or a group of brothers and sisters who can encourage us and help us stay on the path when we're struggling.

What you said about taking the same thing to the altar over and over without seeing change hit home. I think many of us have been there. It's amazing how easily we can justify things, rename them, or convince ourselves they're not as serious as they really are.

Faith absolutely involves trust, but as you said, it also calls us to action. We have to be willing to follow where God leads and take the steps He puts in front of us, even when they're uncomfortable.

Thank you again for your encouragement. My prayer is that all of us continue to seek God's help, as well as the support of the people He places in our lives, so that what we surrender to Him is truly released and not simply revisited again and again.

Thank you, brother, for sharing this powerful reminder. This really spoke to me because surrender is not always easy. We may say that we trust God, but sometimes we still hold tightly to our plans, our fears, our relationships, our future, or the things we are afraid to lose. God wants us to trust Him with everything, not just the things that are easy to surrender. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. I also think about Abraham and Isaac. Abraham had to trust God with something he loved deeply, and his obedience showed that he trusted the Giver more than the gift. Hebrews 11:17 says, By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac. Jesus also showed us the greatest example of surrender when He prayed, Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42. Sometimes surrender means saying, Lord, this is what I want, but I trust You more than I trust my own understanding. Psalm 37:5 says, Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. May God help us to release whatever we are holding too tightly and place it completely into His hands. When we surrender to Him, we may not know what tomorrow will bring, but we can know Who holds tomorrow. God bless you, brother, and thank you for encouraging us to move from fear to faith and from control to complete trust in the Lord.
